Machine Applications
FISH AND SEAFOOD ICING
Use: Fresh caught, processed fish and shellfish products requiring preservation of quality with ice. Ice is used at all points- vessels, central processing areas and transporting of seafood. Reduced bacteria or enzyme activity in seafood products slows decay and yields a higher quality grade. Ice provides a sanitary means for this preservation.
Solutions: To fully retard or inhibit bacterial growth after catching, the ice used for seafood must be clean. Using potable water in the production of the ice and sanitary handling of the ice after production is the only way to assure ice cleanliness. Ice made in a central ice plant is conveyed either mechanically or pneumatically on to the fishing vessels or other points of use. The amount of ice needed is dictated by the cooling rate required by the fish product being caught. Different species require varying cooling times to maintain quality.
Ice Makers
(C series / Tig / TIGAR) provide a sanitary way (USDA approved) to manufacturer a fragmented product. The density advantages are important to vessel crews given the limited amount of space. Additional ice means longer trips and more product. More fragmented ice can be put in transport containers as well increasing the effectiveness of this means of storage.
Rake Storage Bins
(CB and Automatic Rakes) allow a convenient way of handling large amounts of ice. The rake stores the capacity of ice making machinery and delivers it at high demand times. The USDA approved construction keeps the ice sanitary prior to delivery to the end used point. Capacities up to 400 tons can be obtained.
Pneumatic Delivery Systems
Blower, rotary valve and control systems) for delivering ice to vessels and icing points in the processing line. This USDA approved equipment will deliver ice at necessary rates to the various locations. This equipment is easily interfaces with ice machines and ice rakes to complete the system.
Features
Turbo Fragmented Ice Benefits:- Densest product made- more ice in the same volume. Critical in ship icing.
- Large amount of surface area for quick cooling of product.
- Sanitary equipment construction.
- Variable ice thickness control for desired ice type.
- Storage and delivery systems to integrate in to any plant process.
- Variable delivery rates control options.
- Coastal ice plants for vessel icing.
- Pneumatic conveyors for handling ice to vessels and processing lines.
- Packing of fresh seafood for transport.
PRODUCE COOLING (AGRICULTURAL)
Use: Vegetable and fruit cooling using ice and/or chilled water.
Reducing temperature of produce yields the following benefits:
- Extended life of produce(improved preservation)
- Maintain quality and appearance of produce
- Maximize weight retention of produce ( Revenue enhancement)
Solutions: Water chilling of produce reduces the field heat in newly harvested crops and will drop temperature of processed material (cut up or blanched ) prior to final packaging. Icing of produce for storage and shipment allows the removal of field heat as well as maintaining produce quality during transit. Ice is also used for display purposes at point of sale to an end customer.
TURBO equipment application:
Ice makers(C series / Tig / Tigar), rake storage bins (CB and Automatic Rakes ), Pneumatic delivery systems(Blower, rotary valve and control systems) for delivering ice to various locations in a field processing facility. USDA approved equipment. HTD plat fluid chillers for water chilling. The chilled water is then used for direct contact with the vegetables as they exit the field or as they are further processed. This equipment is USDA approved.

Chilled Water Benefits:
- Chilled water generator has sanitary construction
- Energy efficient production of low temperature water (34 ° F)
- Several different storage capacities(sump sizes)
- Effectively cools fresh, cut and steam processed produce
Typical Applications:
Ice Injectors

- Re icing point along travel routes
POULTRY INDUSTRY
Use: Cooling using ice or chilled water or glycol in the processing of Broilers, Turkeys and Eggs.
Processing Needs: Reduce temperature of birds through initial processing retards microbial growth and slows deterioration which increases shelf life of the product.
Packaging Needs: Fresh poultry that is packaged for shipment and not frozen requires a cooling medium that is long lasting and low in temperature.
Solutions:
Processing: Immersion chilling in the slaughter line is the most effective way to reduce the carcass temperature quickly and create the desired quality and longevity. Typically the temperatures are 100° F for the bird after evisceration and the target temperature range by USDA is 40° in the breast area and 34 -35° F outside the body cavity. This is normally accomplished by using re-chilled processing water (via a red water chiller) distributed to a tumble or drag through bird chiller where the birds come in contact with the low temperature water. USDA requirements stipulate that a certain amount of water must be removed from the chiller for each bird processed. These water needs range from 1/2 gallon for each broiler to 1 gallon for each turkey processed. The make up water is needed at the lowest temperature achievable. An HTD falling film plate water chiller is normally used to provide this make up water need. Although not as common, ice can be used in the bird chiller to accomplish the chilling and make up water needs.
Packaging: Ice is needed for fresh product being sent to market or to further processing facilities. This ice is normally manufactured at a central point and distributed via a pneumatic blowing system or screw conveyor system to the end use points.
