TIG/TIGAR SERIES
The TIG Freon Series and TIGAR Ammonia Series Are Designed/Built to Outperform...
Outlast All Other Ice Making Systems.
The Units
Workhorses. TURBO has designed two tough thoroughbreds. The TIG(freon) and TIGAR(ammonia) Ice Generators. We've literally re-designed the original ice generator from the inside out, for the most durable, reliable and flexible ice producer that users have ever seen. Equipment that makes the ice with the high I.Q. The ice with the high internal quality. Clear and hard ice. Ice that lasts. But what's really efficient about the TIG and TIGAR units is how hard they work. They produce their rated capacities while operating at peak efficiency. Fully automatic, using no moving parts for ice generation. You'll find hot gas ice harvesting values with all the units.
You'll discover another important benefit in the end product. You get a minimum of ice fines and snow. And remaining fines and snow melt to reduce plate water temperature, improving ice productions. It's the kind of craftsmanship and engineering you've grown to expect from those who know refrigeration and ice generation the very best.
Combine all these features with a proven plate ice making design that's been in use for over 25 years, now available in self-contained and remote suits, and you'll quickly see why they're becoming the popular choice for industry. Easy to maintain, energy efficient, plates and cabinets of stainless steel construction.
Consider the applications where they have been proven successful. You'll find them hard at work in poultry, produce and seafood operations, anywhere you find food processing. Industrial uses, too, from chemicals, textiles, dye-making to just about anywhere cooling is required to produce a finished product.
THE CONCEPT
Different from other ice generators, the ice making surfaces are stainless steelplates welded together to form internal passages to control the flow of refrigerant. This computer-designed system gives you positive water control, distributing the water uniformly over the outside of the plates. Plates are grouped vertically with ice forming on both sides in sheets 1/4" to 1/2" thick. At pre-determined intervals, hot refrigerant gas enters the plates, causing the ice to break away. Then it's dropped into the internal screw conveyor. Breaking into sized pieces, it's then moved to the storage facility. A dryout section reduces excess water. The cycle is repeated as long as there's a need for additional ice reserves.
You can depend on these units for their continuous ice making capability. This simple design that offers a machine with no moving parts assures you less chance of component failure. Longer operation with less chance of costly downtime. Value-added benefits for the user.
The final result is a product of flat ice pieces. And flat pieces transfer more "cold" than other shaped ice. A greater cooling effect...more cooling area is what you get. That's why we produce the ice with the High I.Q. The ice with the high internal quality for your application.
DURABILITY
How these units are made plays a vital part in user's satisfaction. They're all manufactured in strict accordance with USDA standards. Approved for food processing plants. Stainless steel construction contributes to their sanitary appearance. And Stainless steel exterior cabinets with two full inches of foam urethane makes them perfect for either indoor or outdoor installation.
Welded steel frames, hot dipped galvanized for true corrosion protection. Open type industrial reciprocating compressors, furnished with motor and starter give you the rugged construction every application needs. And users can rely on them to keep running with only normal maintenance.
We stand behind our assurance of durability. All pressure vessels are manufactured in accordance with the ASME Pressure Vessel Code. The electrical systems comply with the National Electrical Code. All motors, starters, controls, and versatile programmable controllers, along with UL3R control panels, are all standard and U.L. listed with each unit.
RELIABILITY
All unit's proven plate design components are tested for operation before they leave the plant. Each plate is pressure tested individually. Refrigerant piping for both the freon(TIG) and ammonia(TIGAR) icemakers use reliable industrial grade components. Ammonia(TIGAR) units are designed for liquid recirculation systems.
But here's what's exclusive with TURBO. Our unique design provides each unit with stainless steel evaporator plates divided into multiple sections. This allows one section to harvest at a time. The proven water distribution system allows a uniform water flow over the evaporator plates, causing the most efficient heat transfer. You get a constant refrigeration load with efficient compressor operation, too.
Continuous, frequent harvesting from the evaporation plates produces maximum ice production, while keeping power consumption low. No excess harvest water means substantial power savings. And that's what saves users money.
FLEXABILITY
Self-contained units provide you with low cost installation. They're wired, charged with refrigerant, fully tested. You only need to connect your water and power sources. Low KWH/Ton of ice results in substantial savings in operating costs. We can provide hot gas harvest times down to 30 seconds, the shortest time in the industry. It's the highly efficient method for economical heat transfer for thin ice.
You have the flexibility of choosing the thickness of your ice. Just a simple change in the programmable timer will give you variations from 3/16" to 1/2". You can select the most economical size to suit your job with additional recirculation.
Simple to operate, easy to install, easy to specify, there's a particular model to fit your needs. Remote or completely packaged models are available with capacities to 250 tons of ice per day. Low initial cost per ton of ice with trouble-free operation at the job site means just this. TURBO provides the most cost efficient ice generators in their class. Equally beneficial is the expertise in parts and service support you get from the leader.
